Comcast = Craptastic
So my Internet, Phone & Cable went out the night that the tornado hit the east side of Indy (2 weeks ago this Friday), when we called them on Saturday they told us there was outages and they had no time-line when we would have service back......we were fine with this since a TORNADO had just came through Indy, no problem right? + a lot of people were homeless.
Monday still nothing, called Comcast and again "Outages in your area because of the storms, and no idea when you will have service."
Still ok with that answer, again it was a tornado.
Tuesday-Friday called Comcast daily, still got the same respose and now they start giving us local #'s to call, which were also no help.
Saturday - Call them again and my mother only has 25 mins a month on her cell phone, she calls and she is on hold for exactly 25 mins then she is disconnected!!! We find out that my cousin who lives next door had disconnected their cable because she couldn't afford it had set up an appointment to re-connect their service and they were expected to come out and hook them up that day, also found out that my other neighbor on the opposite side of us has had service the whole time and the people in back of us as well (Remember OUTAGES IN OUR AREA!!!!)
Well Comcast doesn't show up to my cousin's and we call around to Dish Network (who were not open on Saturday), AT&T (appoint set for today: Thursday) and Insight (Not available in our area)
Sunday - Comcast shows up to my cousin's and her husband explains our situation to the guy and he decides to come over to take a look, he 1st goes to the pole in our front yard then comes inside and looks at our breakers and goes upstairs to look at something, he's there about 20 mins then says that he can't do anything because our pole is dead (yet both neighbors can get service???)and we weren't scheduled till the 12th (we didn't know we were scheduled at all) which he called the office and told them to cancel that appointment since he came over to look at it, so he will have to call his supervisor and that can take from 24-72 hours to get a response....thanks for nothing Comcast!
Monday-Tuesday - Called Comcast same response EVEN though someone was at our house on Sunday and my cousin now has cable (I guess new customers are more improtant)On Monday FINALLY get an appointment made with them and schedule it for Tuesday the 10th and they will be at the house between 8am - 12pm...so my cousin can let them in while we are at work.
Tuesday - 12:20pm we call Comcast to see if everything is ok, they tell us that we are not scheduled until Wednesday the 11th!!!!!!!! They do not show up.
Wednesday - I get home from work and we now have our service again, relatives from Louisiana called last night and said they have been trying for 3 days to get a hold of us to see if we were ok, because of the flooding.
At&T should be on today and Dish Network tomorrow, then canceling Comcast and complaining to them, we wanted to wait until our service was back on to make a HUGE stink.
So my review of Comcast is they are not "Comcastic" as they advertise, but "CRAPTASTIC!"
Yes, I know people are still without power and homeless, and I shouldn't complain much, but to be told that there are "Outages in our area" yet both next door beighbors has service and we have NEVER once been late on a payment.....sorry something just doesn't add up.
Am I wrong to complain? Is it just me? What if this was my mother and her only means of communication were the regular phone and she was on Oxygen?
To moderators This is supposed to go into the review section, but I can't figure out how to do that, so if you need to move it there.
My sister has had nothing but problems since taking the "Bundle" deal with Comcast. All was well when her Greenwood area was serviced by Insight.
I switched to AT&T a few months ago and couldn't be happier. I had Brighthouse before and they were ok, but AT&T has better service, more features and is even less expensive.
I've heard very good things about At&t. Do you have the uVerse Dexter? that seems to be the way to go, if you can get it in your area.
If you complain enough, you can get a partial refund for the month. If you don't complain, you get to pay for the whole month even though you didn't have service for half or more of it. Same is true with every other cable provider though.
I have Uverse and it's awesome. It came with a DVR and two other boxes for less than what I was paying Brighthouse. I can record 8 shows at once or something like that. I don't use AT&T for phone service though. I use vonage, which is compatible with the Uverse deal. Overall, I have been very happy.

My cable/internet went out on Tuesday night - when where was NOTHING going on! I called them and I talked to this stupid girl who said (in my best dumb blonde voice) "There could be an outage, i think there might be an outage in you area." So she put us on hold for 45 minutes. We hung up and called back until we finally got a guy that kind of sounded like he knew what he was talking about and he said they could not get out to our house until Saturday. I said fine but I was not going to be charged for the days that I am with out service. He said they could credit my account. You bet they will - I am not fun on the phone when I am unhapy.

Uverse is the way to go. I had it down in Bloomington for a year and just got it here. Can't say I've had any problems with it. It's a lot more channels than Comcast and more HD channels too. If you can get Uverse there is really no reason not to switch. Plus you get the Big Ten Network so you can watch the Hoosiers!
So we hate Comcast too, but have to have the high speed internet for fiance's job, DSL from at&t just doesn't cut it. Does Uverse offer internet? I have never heard of them before...

Yeah it has internet too. It's every bit as fast as Comcast.

UPDATE
Came home last night cable tv is working, phone is down and guess what? The internet is down as well, I call them I am on the phone with them for 25mins 49 seconds (I looked at my cell phone time....luckily it was after 7pm!) and "D" the lady I spoke to well her computer froze up on her (Imagine that) and she said she would call me back when her computer was back up.
I ordered a pizza from Papa Murphy's and then went to the video store (scored "Inland Empire" used for $4.95) came home popped the pizza in the oven (had been over an hour and "D" had not called) so I call them back and this time my mom talks to them, she asked to speak to a supervisor, she is on hold for 15mins.
He comes on the line and she says she just wants to cancel EVERYTHING with them, she told him that we have been without service for 10 days, and not to get all into it, but she pretty much rips him a new one and I heard her say "You really think I am going to stick with you? After the horrible service we have received."
So what happened was we got phone service though AT&T and because Comcast hadn't released out # yet it was causing the problem with our phone/internet....so we couldn't even cancel from them, we were going to keep the internet with them, but nothing else, so the sales lady kept saying that it will make the price go up to $65.00 just for the internet & will cost us an extra $20.00 to have them come to the house to pick up the modem, which we agreed they will disconnect everything today and we will bring them the modem so we are not charged.
We called AT&T back and ordered the UVerse and we should have it installed at 8pm on Monday!
Unbelievable.
