Columbus auto supplier to lay off 215
A Columbus manufacturer is closing and will lay off 215 workers by month’s end, according to a notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Columbus Components Group told the state in a letter received Thursday that a loss of a major client makes the decision permanent. CCG manufactures metal stampings and assemblies for the light vehicle automotive, heavy-duty truck, and industrial markets.
Also new this week: NAL Worldwide is shedding about 70 jobs in Fort Wayne as work at a unit shifts to Illinois. The company is involved in distribution and logistics.
And Michigan-based Meridian Automotive Systems is reducing work at a plant in Shelbyville, shedding a total of 198 positions in phases. The plant manufactures reinforced plastic panels for the automotive and truck industry.
