East 91st Street Christian Church will host its annual Patriotic Band Concert on Sunday.

The event will feature the church’s 43-piece band, a quartet of Purdue students who also sing in the Glee Club, and dancers from Praise in Motion and Dance Creations Repertory Company, said Shockley Flick, worship pastor.

“We have many fine musicians, and this is one way they can express their talent,” Flick said.

Craig Middle School teacher Steve Meurer directs the church’s band and orchestra and creates the annual performance, Flick said.

Musicians will fill the air with patriotic tunes including a salute to veterans during the “Armed Forces Salute.” All who attend will get a flag to wave during the final song, “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

About 20 dancers will perform alongside musicians on a few numbers.

“We are thanking the Lord for the talent we have and the people in the church who have served in the military,” Flick said.

It’s the 15th year for the concert that will be in the main sanctuary. Organizers anticipate about 1,200 will attend the concert.
