Chinese class celebrates Moon Festival
Wendy Yuan’s Zionsville High School’s Chinese classes worked with students in the Life Skills program to bake moon cakes and prepare Chinese food to celebrate Moon Festival on Friday.
Yuan said enrollment in her classes rose from 83 in the 2008-09 school year to 102 now. She said the school plans to offer Chinese III in the 2010-11 school year.
Yuan started a Chinese Club at the high school, and similar clubs are planned for both middle schools.
In February, Yuan will cooperate with teachers at Zionsville West Middle School for a unit lesson on the Chinese New Year.
Yuan said that in April the Chinese class students would take a field trip to Chinatown in Chicago.
