Cathedral football team ranked No. 65 in nation
Cathedral, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, has shot up to No. 65 in Rivals.com “RivalsHigh 100” ranking of the top 100 high school football teams in the nation.
The Fighting Irish, ranked No. 80 last week, defeated Michigan’s Birmingham Brother Rice 35-7 on Saturday to improve to 8-1 heading into sectional play. Cathedral’s defense held Brother Rice to just 84 yards of total offense while Kofi Hughes was 11-for-11 for 159 yards passing and Nick Najem rushed for 99 yards on 16 carries.
Cathedral is the lone Indiana team listed in the Rivals.com rankings. The Irish own wins over Class 5A No. 1 Carmel and No. 3 Warren Central. Cathedral’s only loss is to Cincinnati St .Xavier, ranked No. 12 by USA Today and No. 32 by Rivals.com.
