Carmel officials to consider elected leaders salaries
The salaries of Carmel’s elected officials will be on the table during Monday night’s City Council meeting.
The proposed salaries are the same as this year’s salaries, since no city employee is receiving the usual 3 percent cost-of-living increase. Mayor Jim Brainard decided against the increase since there was no inflation this year.
Brainard’s salary is proposed at $112,762.
Clerk-treasurer Diana Cordray’s salary is proposed at $92,222.
Judge Brian Poindexter would make $106,626. Poindexter was appointed to the position by Gov. Mitch Daniels to replace former judge Paul Felix, who left to become Hamilton Circuit judge. The city judge position, though, is usually an elected position.
Each of the seven City Council members would make $16,120.
The council could vote on the ordinance on Monday, but will likely send it to its finance committee for further discussion before voting on it.
The council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1 Civic Square.
