Car hits Wash. Twp. bus; 3 students hurt

Three children were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a Washington Township school bus and a car on the Northside.

The bus with 40 children attending the “Learning Under the Sun” summer program was traveling north on Primrose Avenue when it was struck by a car traveling west on Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Fred Pervine said.Witness told authorities that the car’s driver ran a red light, Pervine said.

Three children were taken to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent with head, neck and back pain and the driver of the car was taken to Community North Hospital, Pervine said. All were listed in stable condition, Pervine said.Medics evaluated the other students at the scene and they were picked up by their parents, Pervine said.The bus was returning to Broad Ripple Park from a field trip, Pervine said.
