Can headaches lead to brain damage?

I had a terrible migraine headache for three days. Started seeing lines in my vision, halos everywhere on lighting (still having this problem), and lights seem insanely bright. I feel as if I'm stuck underwater and can't seem to get my head above water, or as if I am stuck in a fog and cannot make my brain function. It's like being half asleep and not being able to wake up.

I've had one incident where my vision went blurry for a few days, due to a bad dream, and pressure in my head.

Has anyone else experienced a loss of function in their ability to think, react, or see due to a migraine??

I googled my own question, and apparently there is evidence that migraines may indeed cause brain damage.

I realize this post is kind of old, but I feel your pain, literally. I’ve had a headache for a year now and the weather today is making it unbearable.

That said, I’ve never lost my ability to function, though it does make it difficult to focus or be as productive as I would be other wise. There are plenty of nights I just come home and sit on the couch.

Sometimes I have this weird thing happen where I feel fine, but then I bend over to get a drink or pick something up, and there’s an extremely sharp pain in my head – almost to the point of blacking out.

@ JohnScott that actually sounds like a nerve. I use to get a similar issue when I would turn my neck.

Haven’t logged in for awhile, sorry to have missed everyone’s reply. Environmental pollutants seem to be a cause of my headaches sometimes. I don’t get them often anymore. I’ve eliminated caffeine, alcohol, all dairy products (which can create a lot of excess mucus and inflammation in the body), and I haven’t had a headache in awhile now.

Pasta Queen, do you still have your headache? I hope its gone now, that sounds compeltely miserable.
