Cakes and jam at Circle City Sweets
Cindy Hawkins of Circle City Sweets has been much in demand lately for wedding cakes — so much so that she may even have to add a “weddings” page to her site, http://www.circlecitysweets.com.
Farmers’ market regulars know that Hawkins has also been busy making jam. We spotted her Indiana Juneberry jam at the downtown farmers’ market recently, and she tells us that there really is a fruit called a “juneberry.” (They grow on trees or large shrubs and are also called “service berries;” in Canada, they’re called “Saskatoons” — who knew?)
But whatever the name, the jam looked great. We’ll be keeping an eye out for her Indiana strawberry jam with mint and black pepper, as well as red currant and gooseberry varieties.
