Anyone looking for a good first opera to attend might consider Gian-Carlo Menotti's "The Medium," running Nov. 12-15 at Butler University's Lilly Hall.

Gian-Carlo Menotti's 80-minute one-act tells the tale of a phony fortune teller who bamboozles mourning families, with the assistance of her daughter and an orphaned gypsy boy.

Director Nancy Davis Booth set "The Medium" in 1957 New York City. Madame Flora and her kids are refugees from the Hungarian Revolution.

Tickets are $15 for general adult admission, $10 for Butler faculty and staff and $5 for students. They're available at the door, and may be reserved by calling (317) 940-8889.
