LSU beat Butler on the basketball court in the NCAA Tournament last March, and now has beaten the Bulldogs in a recruiting battle.

Ralston Turner, a 6-6 high school senior from Muscle Shoals, Ala., committed to LSU on Monday night after visiting the campus. His coach, Dennis Conner, confirmed that today in an e-mail to The Indianapolis Star.

Turner averaged 21 points and nine rebounds a game last season. He is ranked 144th nationally in the class of 2010, according to rivals.com.

Turner canceled this week’s scheduled visit to Butler. He had also visited Notre Dame and canceled a visit to Georgia.

Butler, with commitments from Herron High School’s Crishawn Hopkins and Bloomington South’s Erik Fromm, has one more scholarship available in its 2010 recruiting class.

Kyle Marshall of Pembroke Pines, Fla., remains a Butler recruiting target. Marshall, ranked 113th by rivals.com, visited the Butler campus last weekend.
