Bloomington Concerts this week
Mon March 3rd @ Waldron Arts Center - 8pm - $7 - All-ages!
Bowerbirds / Phosphorescent / Ruben and Vanessa
This Dead Oceans showcase features two of the infant imprints...Bowerbirds are a three-piece outfit from the folk foothills of Raleigh, North Carolina. Like a quiet Southern evening, the Bowerbirds blend subtle harmonies with the wispy acoustics of violins and mandolin to create songs that wash over the ears life sweet tea on a summer's day.
Phosphorescent is a purveyor of maudlin acoustic rock that is as gut wrenching as it is beautiful. The man that is Matt Houck has drawn comparisons to the likes of Will Oldham and Bob Dylan with the London Evening Standard declaring Houckto be "the most significant American in his field since Kurt Cobain."
Ruben and Vanessa have been making waves in the Bloomington folk scene with their loving harmonics and deft touch on the banjo and guitar.

Tues March 4th - Waldron Arts Center - 9pm - $7 - All-ages!
Evangelicals / Headlights / Prayer Breakfast
Evangelicals have drunk from the chalice of The Flaming Lips, creating luscious, psychedelic indie-pop. Pitchfork take it away - "The tracks on So Gone don't rock and roll, twist and shout, or perform any of the standard motor functions we expect of pop songs. Instead, they accelerate, crash, reboot, reformat"
Headlights are Champaign, Illinois' greatest export, giving the world playful harmonies and bubbly indie-pop. Sometimes you want to grab a skinny jeans clad kid and say hey hipster, why so serious? Lighten up a bit. Luckily, Headlights provide the charm and the chops to do just that.
Prayer Breakfast is a super group of local music ans culled from the talent pool of Arrah and The Ferns,Everything, Now!, husband&wife, Rapider Than Horsepower and Vollmar. The result is every bit as amazing as you would imagine that collection of musicians would sound.
