the newly reunited Blind Melon (with a new lead singer obviously) is coming to Indianapolis @ The Vogue on March 15th. I saw the band a couple of months ago in Columbus and they were the best cover band I've ever seen. i'm half joking and half not because they were really f'ing good but it's just weird hearing another man sing the words another man wrote and sang while being backed by the same men who helped the original man write the tunes in the first place. i know bands like Van Halen have done this but it just seems different with 90's bands. i haven't seen Alice In Chains new band but I cannot imagine seeing them perform with Layne. what if Nirvana would've continued without Kurt? it just doesn't seem right to me. that being said I actually had a good time seeing the "new" Blind Melon and when I did, Shannon Hoon's mom was in attendance and gave the boys her blessing so...

in the meantime, check out Rain Fur Rent which was the band Blind Melon's new lead singer used to be in. the kid's got a really cool voice and falls somewhere between Shannon and Buckley.
