Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal emerged as young blues musicians during the Woodstock era. Mahal’s debut album was released in 1968, and Raitt’s arrived in 1971, but this summer’s “Alone and Together” excursion is the first time the Grammy Award winners have toured together.
At the Lawn, the singer-guitarists will play songs with their respective bands before joining forces for a string of duets.
Raitt and Mahal collaborated on renditions of “She Caught the Katy” and “Done Changed My Way of Living” during recent TV appearances.

Last year, several up-and-coming Midwest-area bands performed on the grassy knoll on Berkley Road to raise money for art and music departments at several IPS schools.
The event — dubbed Knollfest — was such a success that organizers are back with the second edition.
The goal is to donate at least $1,500 to Broad Ripple Magnet School for the Arts, while promoting local bands and DJs, including Groovatron, Twin Cats, Ladymoon, Shaggy Wonda, Midwest Hype, Daphne from Daphne Willis&Co., Oreo Jones, DJ MetroGnome, The Ragbirds and more.
After the music wraps up on the knoll, head to the official after-parties with Midwest Hype and The Ragbirds at the Jazz Kitchen, and the Twin Cats at the Mousetrap.
