Bernard John Murphy
SHERIDAN — Bernard John Murphy, 83, Sheridan, died Oct. 27, 2009, at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis.
Mr. Murphy retired in 1988 after 25 years as a patent agent with the Ingersoll-Rand Corporation.
He was born March 14, 1926, in Fort Lee, N.J., the son of Bernard and Helen Moore Murphy.
He and Margaret Murphy were married Sept. 17, 1949. She died in 1987.
He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He served in Iwo Jima and was a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans.
Mr. Murphy was formerly of Mountain Lakes, N.J. and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was a current member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Noblesville, and a member of the Patent Bar.
He is survived by his children, Constance Bergeson, Neil Murphy, John Murphy, Brian Murphy, Mark Murphy, Burt Murphy, Janet Donato, Margaret Paschitti, Elizabeth Carman, Christopher Murphy, Judith Olson; adopted daughter, Sue Morton; a sister, Marion Neiman, New Hampshire; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling will be 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with services immediately following. The Rev. Tom Metzger will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery in Fort Lee.
