Ben Davis strong safety Isaiah Lewis has verbally committed to Michigan State for football, according to Giants coach Mike Kirschner. The 5-11, 190-pound Lewis had 12 offers from major programs, including Pac-10, Big Ten and Big East schools.

“He’s put some good muscle weight on and has gotten faster,” Kirschner said. “He’s already pretty good and now we need him to be even more of a leader. He’s not only a good football player, but is very good academically.”

Kirschner said Lewis has a 3.2 grade-point average in his core classes and wants to study engineering in college.
