Auto glassmaker cuts 64 jobs at Ind. plant
AUBURN, Ind. — An automotive glassmaker is laying off 64 workers from a northeastern Indiana factory, cutting more than one-fifth of the plant’s jobs.
Guardian spokeswoman Amy Hennes said the layoffs at the Auburn factory were caused by declining demand for its glass following production cuts by automakers.
Hennes says the company has tried to diversify its product mix, but it had to reduce production to match demand. About 240 people work at the plant in the city about 20 miles north of Fort Wayne.
