The Indiana High School Athletic Association has announced football classifications for the 2009 and 2010 football seasons.

Football is reclassified every two years based on enrollment figures. Twenty-seven schools will be changing classifications for the upcoming cycle.

Area schools moving from Class 4A to the highest-enrollment 5A include Westfield, Whiteland and Zionsville, while Arlington drops from 5A to 4A. Other changes with local interest involve Indian Creek moving from 2A to 3A and Cardinal Ritter and Park Tudor moving from A to 2A.

Sectional assignments will be announced in the spring.
