Apple spill snarls I-65/I-70 Downtown

Traffic on I-70 and I-65 was snarled this evening after a semi-tractor trailer overturned and spilled boxes of apples Near Downtown.

The truck overturned and spilled its payload on eastbound I-70 near I-65 at about 7:15 p.m., according to state traffic management officials.

Workers were cleaning the spill and loading the apple crates onto another truck at about 8:30 p.m., officials said.

The ramp from southbound I-65 to eastbound I-70 was closed; northbound I-65 to I-70 was reduced to a single lane.

Police, firefighters and tow trucks were at the scene. There were no reports of injuries.
