Every year, Simon Cowell tells American Idol contestants to stay away from Whitney Houston songs. He should've warned Allison Iraheta to stay away from Janis Joplin, too.

Judges loved the 17-year-old redhead's duet Tuesday with Adam Lambert on Foghat's Slow Ride, but they were only moderately positive about her performance of Cry Baby.

Voters were more definitive: They preferred the show's three guys — Kris Allen, Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert.

Those three get to return to their hometowns next week as conquering heroes. Allison, who had bounced in and out of the bottom three all season long, just gets to go home.

Next week, the top three tackle two songs: a judges' choice and a personal favorite.
