The Macpodz are an electrified jazz quintet from Ann Arbor progresses the evolution of 'disco-bebop', their own style of jazz-fusion designed for "the preservation of the motion of hips." Ross Huff In the traditions of Miles Davis and Frank Zappa, this ensemble pushes the boundaries of rock, jazz and fusion music. Drummer Griffin Bastian and percussionist Nick Ayers drive the rhythm behind bassist Brennan Andes, keyboardist Jesse Clayton and trumpeter Ross Huff. The band coined the term "Disco Bebop" at their first gig in early 2006, after playing a four on the floor roller rink remix of the Charlie Parker tune, "Dewey Square."
The Macpodz self released their debut album, Genius Food for Super Heroes, on January 2, 2007. Described as lush, daring and incredibly solid, the music has been well received by jazz lovers and those who just love to dance. The Macpodz released second album Orcastrate on March 1, 2008. The band is currently on a Spring 2008 tour in support of their newest release; Orcastrate with many club dates scheduled throughout the Midwest and Northeast and festivals such as Summer Camp Music Festival, Nelson Ledges, Hookahville, Wakarusa Music Festival, Dunegrass, Shamy Bash and Hoxeyville.
About Moser Woods Based out of the Midwest USA, Moser Woods is an explosion of rock, funk, experimental jazz, blues, and classical music, channeled into a melting pot of free flowing grooves. "Moser Woods speaks with sound". Currently in the studio, Moser Woods is completing their second full length release, as their management team works to lock in summer festivals and the Moser Woods 2008 Summer/Fall Tour. The past three years have proven to be monunmental for the group as they toured all over the country riding on successful album sales, and moving crowds show after show with solid live performances. Making appearances all over the midwest with RUSH (Snakes & Arrows Tour 2007), Rusted Root (2006), Darkstar Orchestra (2006 & 2007), Ekoostik Hookah (2006 & 2007), as well as many club/festival performances, this all raging three piece continues to raise the ears and eyebrows of music lovers all over. As of August 2007, the Moser Woods promotions team had seen over 11,000 discs land in the hands of music fans all across the country. Moser Woods was nominated for the following awards by WhatzUp magazine of Northeast Indiana: Best Original Rock Performer 2004, Best Original Rock Performer 2005, Best CD release 2006, Performer of the Year 2006, Best Original Rock Band 2006, Best Live Band 2006.
