I'm planning a rehearsal dinner in the downtown Indy area for 30 people, and I'll be honest. It's been a real challenge to find something within our budget. Some appetizers, some sort of chicken or pasta dinner with beer and wine. Nothing too fancy, but a good meal at a place that has some character and ambiance.
We checked out Buggs Temple (way, way way too expensive), Iaria's (booked), Bazbeaux's (don't do rehearsals anymore), Santorinis (love the food just not the private room) and a couple other places. Shelbi Street Cafe is a potential option, but we're still looking.
Suggestions are welcome! But places like Oceanaire, 14 West or or St. Elmos are just not in the budget for us.
Is there some place we're missing?
Weber Grill is quite nice, has a large menu, and is pretty affordable. Don't know if they do big parties, but it's a big place so I'd be surprised if they didn't. Sounds like you like Italian, so another option may be Buca Di Beppo.
How about The Rathskellar? I've never been to a reheasal there, but I know they have a pretty big space and could hold a party of 30 with out a problem. I don't know the price either, just a suggestion.
Sahm's has a great private room at the First Indiana Building, right next to Chase tower. It's on the 2nd floor, looks our over Penn. I was at a rehearsal dinner there. Great food. Great room.
How about The Rathskellar? I've never been to a reheasal there, but I know they ...
We had our rehearsal at the Rathskeller and it was a blast. They have all sorts of different rooms for different sized parties. We chose buffet style and the food was fantastic. Plus, it was nice that after the dinner was over, we wandered down to the beer garden for the rest of the evening.
How bout Buca de Buppo?
I do rehearsal dinners weekly, and while we are not Downtown, we are only minutes away. I cater for Augustino's Italian Restaurant. Give me a call, 865-1099 or send me an email at augustinosindy@sbcglobal.net. I would be happy to help you! -allison
