I went and listened to the "I'm not your Boyrfriend" and "I'm Not Comin To Your Party Girl" - They struck me as a Beastie Boys meet Prodigy - Not straight rap/not straight industrial - not sure. I also can't tell if they take themselves serious - given the videos I watched I would say no. More power to them though. The rap thing is just not my style.

Newton Faulkner - Hand Built by Robots He's amazing!!
Very stripped down acoustic music - I listened to a few of his tracks and he sounds really good - I can understand why so many people like him and he's building a following. Somewhere in a the genre (don't want to start a flame war) of a Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jeff Buckley ... Like I said not trying to compare but just listening to the songs I did- he seems to rely on his lyric writing abilites coupled with his mesmerizing acoustic guitar. It just works.

Natalie Portman in Garden State right?
I've been listening to Wincing the Night Away over the past year and it is a good album. Phantom Limb always stood out as my favorite cut. I might have to visit some of their earlier albums.

They will change your life or at least make selecting what you're going to listen to easier. They haven't made a bad album. If you haven't heard their other stuff, though, I think I'd suggest working your way backwards starting with Chutes Too Narrow.
i am converting 7"s from my high school days to mp3s!
so far: endive "under lies/christening day" - rockets red glare "redshift/halifax" - slant 6 "what kind of monster are you?" awesome!!!
Not listening to anything right now...I listen to my Ipod on the commute to work every day. It's 80 gigs with tens of thousands of songs...and after a year of listening to it, I think I'm tired of them all. Thinking about downloading some books on tape for a change of pace.

They're a little indie trippy - do you have all their albums and do you suggest one for listening?

I haven't heard Slant 6 for ever - I wonder how hard it is to find them on CD - I wouldn't mind finding Soda Pop-Rip Off and listening to it now.
