According to McDonalds: Grimace is a big, loving, fuzzy purple fellow who is Ronald McDonald's best friend. He's sure Ronald is the world's ultimate authority on everything. I think he is a giant blob of "purple drink" or maybe even grape jell-o. oh! and i hope that he is NOT related to barney...that would ruin everything for Grimace's fame. i find it concerning though that his name means "facial expression disgust." hmmmm...makes a little sense...

of course he is related to Barney...you dont see things that big walking around here and their not associted from the same string of DNA.....
