Just Do It!

I just finished reading a new release entitled "Just Do It - How one couple turned off the tv and turned on their sex lives for 101 days (no excuses!)".

I am happily married now for 19 years. We have two wonderful kids (17 and 13) and are quite happy. But....I have to say that after that much time, things can get a little stale in the whoopie department.

I was browsing Amazon for books when I came across this title in their pre-release sale section. I read the synopsis and thought, what the heck, let's give it a whirl.

I unpacked the book yesterday and I haven't been able to put it down! No, it isn't all graphic sex! More than that, it was the story of a normal couple, my age, my stage of life, my basic demographic. I couldn't believe it.

Douglas Brown is the author. He is a feature writer at the Denver Post. His wife is Annie - suburban housewife, mom and freelance writer. Together, they hatch an idea to see if they can achieve 100 straight days of sex (with each other), no excuses.

This book is a funny, heartwarming, surprisingly enlightened look at relationships, marriage, adulthood, parenthood and, of course, sex. What this book is NOT, is pornography. In fact, while there is obviously a lot of sex going on, the reader is taken along on the journey and committment required of a loving couple as they learn about themselves and each other and how, even after 14 years of marriage, they still find each other sexually satisfying in a way ALL happily married couples will understand.

Did they make it to day 100? What happened along the way? What did their friends and coworkers think? What did their parents think? How in the world did they find enough time between jobs, school, Girl Scouts and everyday distractions to spend meaningful time "doing it"?

This book is a must read for anyone in a committed, caring relationship that is starting find the truth about long-term sex with the same person. It will make you laugh. It will spark your imagination. You will see yourself, and your partner, in the story. If you are lucky and ambitious enough, you just might be inspired to start your own quest for 101 days straight, NO EXCUSES!

I haven't read the book, but I saw a review on msnbc.com (I think it was msnbc). Thanks for posting your thoughts because it sounds like a book that many couples could read. If I ever pick up a copy, I'll give my two cents.
