Where do you take out of town guests when they visit Indy? If you only had three places to go...eating, drinking and having a good time are the only requirements...where do you go???
Big Car! The Chatterbox! La Piedad!
Wolfgang Pucks @ the IMA, Chatterbox (Downtown), Radio Radio (Fountain Square)
Fountain Square, Mass Ave and Broad Ripple. But OK, if I had to be more specific: for low-key - Yats, Big Car and the Alley Cat for mid-range - Scholars Inn, IMA, Chatterbox for "living it up" - Elements, Six/Blu (just for the pure people watching, which I thoroughly enjoy -- although Howl at the Moon is always a good time too, especially with a group), D'Vine
Mama Carolla's, Old Point Tavern, White River State Park (several options -- from the ISM to the zoo -- depending on the guest)
Grab sandwiches from Taste, buy a bottle of wine from Kahn's, and have a secret picnic on James Whitcomb Riley's tomb overlooking the city.
God. Taste and Mama Carolla's. How could I have forgotten. And brunch at Patachou or Pucks. Duh. So many options.
The old Paramount Pizza Palace would have taken care of all three with one blow. That being said, for family; Shapiro's downtown, an Imax movie and the State Museum. For Friends; Brugge Brasserie in B.R., Chatterbox and then the Rathskellar for Polka Boy.
Fountain Square, Mass Ave and Broad Ripple. But OK, if I had to be more ...
I might have to turn this into a series...next week...Broad Ripple only.
ahhh! the 'Skeller - how could i be so remiss??? (Good call on Polka Boy)
Breakfast:
Bloody Mary's and Eggs Benedict at the Conrad.
Lunch:
Yats and a brown bagged 22oz Newcastle.
Dinner:
Rath-funkin-skeller BABY!. Polkaboy, Brats, and Snakebites
Day Complete. Wash, rinse and repeat as necessary.
dinner... definately Iaria's... drinks, the rathskellar!... and for having a good time, the good ol ripple and barhop!
I just had a British guest here for a month. The places we frequented the most were: Bazbeaux on Mass. Ave., MacNiven's Restaurant and Bar (across from the Mass. Ave. Bazbeaux), and RadioRadio.
We did The Rathskeller, BARcelona Tapas, and Keystone Arts Cinema quite a bit, too...
