Hit songs with a smooth texture are no longer heard at FM radio frequency 93.9, which dumped its “Warm” format Wednesday night.

The Cumulus Media-owned station plans to unveil a new sound during the weekend, market manager Chris Wheat said.

In current Arbitron ratings, the station ranked 21st among Indianapolis-area listeners ages 25 to 54. Soft-rock competitor WYXB-FM (105.7) ranked ninth.

Wheat said two staff members lost jobs in the 93.9 transition, and one hire has been made in connection with the new format.
