Local artist William Lawson is displaying a portion of his vintage portable typewriter collection at the Indianapolis Museum of Art's Stout Reference Library. The typewriters, much like those used by Burroughs, Ginsberg, Kerouac etc, are all stylized Underwood brand machines. A well-informed choice by Lawson, because in 1999 a collection of early previously unpublished Kerouac stories was released entitled "Atop an Underwood". This show is a supplement to the show opening at the IMA next week of Robert Frank photos and Kerouac's "On the Road" manuscript. In addition to the typewriters, the show includes a selection of ribbon containers, manuals and advertising ephemera.
