OK - everybody has a favorite place to vacation. Some like it hot, others like it cool. Some like to go to place that has alot of history and will make them think, others just want to veg out. Personally, I love them all. Travel for travel's sake I say. It's not the destination, it's the journey, etc., etc., etc.

Having said all that, my favorites are:

  1. HOT -Cozumel, MEX. - Laid back atmosphere during the day with lots to do and see, especially snorkeling and diving.

  2. COOL - Lake Tahoe, CA - Lots of beautiful scenery, incredible skiing, great food and nightlife.

  3. FAMILY - Rapid City, SD - Lots of history and lots of scenery. Great location to stage from for Badlands Nat. Park, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis, Deadwood, Custer Nat. Park.

  4. EXOTIC - Buenos Aires, ARG. - Incredible culture. Truly the "Paris" of South America.

  5. INTELLECTUAL - Rome, IT - History and architecture that will boggle the senses of eaven the most seasoned traveller. Also, can be very romantic for travelling couples.

What do you think? Am I right - wrong - don't care? Let us know.

nice list, I would agree with most of those. But here would be mine.

  1. Hot - Maui Hawaii - this is truly the best of the islands. If you want to see what Hawaii is really like..go to Maui.

  2. Cool - Colorado - Amazing scenery, tons to do, and the best skiing in the states.

  3. Inellectual - London UK - This is my favorite city. The parks are magnificent, and the I loved everything about this town.

  4. The most to do - NYC/Manhattan NY - There is just so much to do in Mangattan, I love hanging around the different sections of town, and Central Park is amazing.

Wow! I totally flaked out on London! It has been years since I had the opportunity to go there. Still, it would be a close thing versus Rome.

I've never been to Rome, so I am sure that once I do visit my answer will probably change.

honorable mention

Bermuda - this is a really fun and unusual island. It's very clean, and very tourist friendly, by that I mean that even the bus drivers are polite, and will stop to give you directions. It's very beautiful, but I found it to be more expensive than other island destinations that I have visited.
