Where the center is: Mountainville, N.Y. (www.stormking .org).

When I went: Early September.

Why I chose this destination: I’d always heard what a great place it is for the sculpture and the setting and the way the art is arranged.

How I got there: I flew to New York City and drove there; it’s about an hour north of the George Washington Bridge. You can also take a bus from the city.

Where I stayed: There isn’t much right around there; this is a day trip from the city. Sunday morning is great — no traffic.

My best experience: Hard to choose! Either seeing the new Maya Lin “Wave Field” installation or the vast array of huge sculptures (Hoosier David Smith is well-represented) within the fantastic scenery.

Best food I ate: We didn’t eat there, but food is available on site.

Must-have souvenir: Postcard collection of the center’s collection — including pictures taken at various seasons; and beautiful coffee table art books.

Best advice: Take the tram ride. Also, it is a repeat destination, so you can see the art at various seasons in a variety of light.

Where are you off to next? Greenbrier, W.V.
