Hoosier-related DVDs
As if anyone needed more proof that Peyton Manning is one of the best quarterbacks ever, the Indianapolis Colts' player graces the cover of a new NFL DVD (Warner Home Video, $19.98).
"NFL: Manning, Brady and Favre: The Quarterbacks" offers a behind-the-scenes look into the legendary careers of these legendary signal-callers Tom Brady, Brett Favre and Manning.
Bonus features include the featurette "Manning: Just Snap the Damn Ball."
The DVD is so up to date that it includes Favre's emotional retirement press conference.
Elsewhere in sports, two baseball boxed-set DVDs are musts for fans. "The New York Mets: Essential Games of Shea Stadium" features six unedited, team-defining games from 1969 to 2006. "The Boston Red Sox: Essential Games of Fenway Park" is much the same, except games span 1967 to 2007. Both A&E Home Video products are $59.95.
Back to Hoosier connections, bluegrass legend Bill Monroe is the subject of "Bill Monroe: Father of Bluegrass Music." The 90-minute documentary features archival footage and rare 1990s performances from Monre's final years, including songs from his six decades of recording, such as "Uncle Pen." The DVD includes performances by Paul McCartney, Dolly Parton, Bill Monroe & the Blue Grass Boys and also a Blue Grass Boys reunion.
