Having Ice-T narrate a poem sequence by our great poet Langston Hughes with the Ron McCurdy Quartet and the Indy Symphony Orchestra is a way cool idea that brings together all kinds of sensibilities, talents, and energies. My collaborator jazz pianist and composer Monika Herzig and I are delighted to be performing our jazz and poetry combination with performance poet Tasha Jones in the lobby 6:30-7:20 before the show begins. We will be paying tribute to some of Indy's jazz greats such as Wes Montgomery, Freddy Hubbard, J.J. Johnson, Pookie Johnson, the Hampton Sisters and others and our great Indy poet Etheridge Knight. Tasha, who is such a beautiful talent and has done great work with young people, will be paying her kind of tribute as well.
We hope to see you at the lobby party!
