Co-Owner of Homestead Growers, Steve Spencer (L), along with son, Joel.

Homestead Growers in Sheridan will play a unique role for musician Jack Johnson (whose concert is Friday, June 13 at Verizon Wireless). With help from several Hoosier farms, Homestead has been chosen to acquire fresh produce and other regional ingredients for the popular singer-songwriter.

Friend of the farm and familiar local chef Tyler Herald will be working with Johnson's personal chef to cater three organic-centric meals for the band and concert crew.

Homestead's owners Steve and Anita Spencer--who began growing exotic mushrooms in 2001--proudly place emphasis on their family's all natural, chemical-free growing methods. They now yield a wide-variety of produce for local vendors like the City Market, and Broad Ripple, Carmel, and Noblesville Farmers Markets.

Homestead Growers is at 25325 Lamong Road, Sheridan. Check out the website, www.homestead-growers.com, and see why it's no surprise Homestead drew the eye of the green-friendly musician.
