The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis presents a contest for young virtuoso players every four years, but it salutes its competition winners, or laureates, with an annual concert series.

For some, the highlight of the 2008-09 Laureate Series may be contemporary composer Tan Dun's "Ghost Opera." For others, there will be recitals with Metropolitan Opera Orchestra David Chan in February, and Hungarian musician Barnabas Kelemen and his wife, Katalin Kokas, in April.

Series subscriptions are $119; student and senior discounts are available. Single tickets are $10 to $25. Call (317) 637-4574, or go to www.violin.org. Here are more details:

-- Sept. 16, 7:30 p.m., Bella Hristova, collaboration with Ronen Chamber Ensemble, Indiana History Center. -- Oct. 26, 7 p.m. Quartetto Gelato, an ensemble with violin, cello, clarinet and accordion, Pike Performing Arts Center. -- Nov. 21, 8 p.m., Cho-Liang Lin, a competition juror, with 2002 laureate Susie Park, Tan Dun's "Ghost Opera," Indianapolis Museum of Art. -- Feb. 3, 2009, 7:30 p.m., 1994 bronze medalist David Chan, Indiana History Center. -- April 16, 7:30 p.m., Barnabas Kelemen, 2002 gold medalist, and his wife, Katalin Kokas, St. Paul's Episcopal Church. -- May 9, 8 p.m., Simone Lamsma, 2006 silver medalist, with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, DeHaan Center.
