TONIGHT! - The My Old Kentucky Blog 2008 Concert Series brings you...The Spinto Band + De Novo Dahl + Tally Hall...
Ann Arbor, Michigan's Tally Hall will kick off the festivities tonight at Radio Radio. The band is best know for kitschy, dance-pop songs filled with upbeat melodies, along with their Beatlesesque matching attire, differentiated by ties of varying colors. Their track Banana Man was featured on The Real World: Key West and you might have heard Good Day and their cover of The Killer's Smile Like You Mean It on The O.C..
Tally Hall's live set is always entertaining, funny and generally quite interactive - often featuring a variety of cover songs (Skynard's Free Bird, Biz Markie's Just A Friend, and Springsteen's Blinded By The Light to name a few). Tally Hall is signed to Atlantic Records and continue to tour in support of their debut album Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum.

Next up will be Nashville's De Novo Dahl. Named in honor of Roald Dahl - the British author made famous by his most wonderful children's stories, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. "The New" Dahl as their name translates to, is fitting as this band brings loads of youthful exuberance, imagination and excitement to the realm of music, as opposed to their namesake's forte - literature.
De Novo Dahl's music is wildly upbeat and incredibly danceable. Their live show becomes even more of a spectacle as the band performs in crazy Elvis-like suits of varying colors and decoration. The band is not all pomp without substance though, their 2008 release Move Every Muscle, Make Every Sound features some fantastic songs - most notably Shakedown, Be Your Man and Shout - my personal favorite.

Ending the evening will be the infectious indie pop/rock band from Wilmington, Delaware - The Spinto Band. This band made big waves in the indie rock world in 2005 with the release of their album Nice and Nicely Done on Bar/None Records. They'll finally return this year with a new full-length entitled Moonwink and should recapture some of that buzz.
In the time between, the band has toured with Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks, had their music featured in various indie films and national commercials and performed on the British music television show Later with Jools Holland.
Track to download at MOKB : "Oh Mandy"
Their song Oh Mandy was featured on The Times Online's Best Songs of 2007.
Doors at 8pm and music starting around 9pm. Price at door is $10.
