I've been perusing a list of upcoming festivals and such that are happening in smaller towns around Indiana. Here are a few:

There's a bluegrass festival in Mansfield:

The All-American Country Hoedown in Campbellsburg, described thusly:

"June 5-8, 2008

Good Old Country Fun - Three days of great food, crafts, continuous entertainment and fun for all ages. Come join us and have a great time. Events include Miss Country Girl Pageant, Seniors Day, Historic Home Tour, Little Cowgirl-Cowboy contest, and Baking contest, Pet Parade, Fireworks Show and Street Dance. If you like Bluegrass, probably the most well know Bluegrass festival is the Bill Monroe festival in Bean Blossom, IN (just north of Nashville). That takes place June 14-21 this year.

Most of the other festivals I can think of off the top of my head happen in the Fall.
