The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund was established in 2003 to help the children and families of soldiers killed or severely wounded in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides college grants and other financial aid to these families.
This Thursday an opportunity to contribute to the fund and hear some live music arrives at the Melody Inn. A fundraiser show for the Relief Fund kicks off at 9 PM at the venerable bar located near the corner of 38th Street and Illinois.
Outlaw country act Stockwell Road, long-running power pop act The Common, synth popsters Idle Villains, and punk rockers People Vs. Radio all contribute their time and talents to the event. A donation of $5 gets you in the door.
Awesome. The Common are one of my favorite bands, and this is a rare chance to see them. And I'm not just saying that to smooch Steve's tuckus.
