If you could choose how you were going to die, but by doing so you lost five years from your life, would you do it? Let's say you could choose to die in your sleep, but it would cost you five years. Or perhaps you would take the mountain of blow and three women of the night route. Would it be worth it?

Nah...I'll take 5 years with my family and friends over pretty much anything....unless there will be a lot of pain in those last five years.

Probably not but then again if I chose to die of old age I would be guaranteed to live a long time. But do I want to live that long?

What if I chose to die in a tragic beer gravitron accident at the next millenium celebration in the year 3000? Does that mean I would have naturally lived until 3005?

Don't you think choosing where and when would kind of ruin the interim years? Wouldn't want to live the rest of my life like I'm counting it down - pulling of a paper chain every day and all that.... wait... beer gravitron accident? hmmmm...

Ok, so that we clear up the intent of the question...you can't pick when. You can only pick how. You wouldn't be aware of the final date, only that it would be five years earlier than otherwise. So if you chose to die in your sleep rather than have the last five years, you wouldn't know if it would be at age 59 or age 89.
