There seems to have been an increase in popularity for reality shows where nature survival experts are dumped in remote areas around the world. Going Tribal, Man vs. Wild, and Survivorman are the ones I can think of. I like the educational elements in Man vs. Wild, though the host has been accused of being a phony. I'm not a huge fan of the host of Survorman, though it's still fun to watch. My favorite is definitely Going Tribal. Bruce Perry is a very likable host. You have to appreciate his dedication to adopting the lives of his hosts. The episodes where he has to do hallucinogenics for rites of passage ceremonies are especially entertaining. Anyone else a big fan? Which is your favorite?

I'm really a big fan of Man vs. Wild, if only for the way Bear says "dis-or-ien-tated" ... has quickly become a go-to in-joke for my wife and I.

Me: "Why don't we go up to that pumpkin farm near Sheridan"

Wife: "Make sure you get the map ... it's so easy to become 'dis-or-ien-tated' when you're in the wilds"

And, yes, we're monumentally huge dorks.

I enjoy all the shows Ben listed, also a monumentally huge dork, but I also like Taboo, Dirty Jobs, Storm Chasers, and a few others...I did mention that I was a dork right?
