Harper from Ohio! Don't miss this great night of music!!!!!
The Cousin Brothers have blazed their own trail, bringing their unique blend of rocked-up bluegrass and grassed-up rock and country to enthusiastic audiences. Voted Indianapolis' number one country band (and number two folk band) by the readers of Nuvo Magazine, the Cousin Brothers look forward to furthering their goal of world domination through power-grass. Since their inception in the fall of 2004, The Cousin Brothers have established themselves as a force in the central Indiana music scene. It is their unique blend of bluegrass, rock, country and comedy that has won them the respect of their musical peers and makes their high-energy live show a must-see experience that keeps audiences coming back for more. In 2005, founding members Ben Long and Kevin Vickery joined forces with percussionist T.R. Yelton, whose train beats augmented their sound and helped them to take power grass music to a new level. Later that year, the band added The latest addition the line-up is Dave Bagdade, a veteran bluegrass guitarist and vocalist, giving The Cousin Brothers three solid lead voices and two, multi-instrumental soloists. Their collaborative vocals incorporate influences ranging from Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Lester Flatt, on the one hand, to Jerry Garcia, Tom Petty and James Hetfield. The Cousin Brothers' first studio project, entitled $200 Demo, is an eleven-song look into the group's influences in rock and roll and country with "grassed up" remakes of such songs as Nine Inch Nails' "Closer," Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and Skid Row's "I Remember You," alongside more traditional bluegrass material.
G.S Harper, Cleveland singer/songwriter, is a busy guy. He maintains a heavy performance schedule with his good friends and musical co-conspiritors "The Lonesome Tomatoes", and together they perform well written and uniquely American music, with strong vocals and vivid lyrical imagery. The thirty-four year old San Angelo, Texas native has spent the last twenty years of his life entertaining folks all over the country. They come from all walks of life, and all rungs of the social ladder, to walk into rooms that range from friendly twenty-seat corner bars, to some of the most respected independant live music venues in the nation. They all want the same thing. Just to sit down, grab a drink, and listen. You see, G.S. doesn't just write songs, he writes stories, and most folks don't have to wait too long to get caught up in one of them and drift back in time to a home town, an old friend lost, or an old lover they'd all but forgotten. The vocals are smoky and sincere, and the writing and presentation are friendly, universal, and at times, prophetic, and a little too close to home for some people's emotional comfort. The Lonesome Tomatoes (Andrew Zeager- Guitar/Vocals and Terry Berrett- Mandolin/Vocals) have proven the perfect accompaniment for more than two years now, and the seasoned trio has shared stages with Blue Rodeo, Stacy Earle and Mark Stuart, Tim Easton, Chris Knight, Fred Eaglesmith, Beaver Nelson, David Childers, Bill Noonan, and many local and regional favorites. G.S. has been nominated for two Cleveland Free Times Music Awards in the Best Country/Americana category (2006 and 2007), and in October of 2006, G.S. and The Lonesome Tomatoes released their first CD "Live From Cleveland", which is selling almost faster than the guys can get them printed. Currently, big things are on the horizon. The Tomatoes will release a new studio album later this year, and G.S. recently contributed two tracks to a new release from the Tobasco Donkeys, to be released in the spring of '08. In addition to everything else, G.S. has been touring and recording with "The Spirit of the Outlaws".
