So by some stroke of luck, I found myself at Shalimar Indian Restaurant twice today. Lunch and dinner.

Lunch is always interesting when its a buffer. I buck the trend of loading up the plate and opt for several trips with smaller portions presented with style. I started with a samosa and a pakora along with mint and tamarind sauce. The pakora was average while the samosa was dreamy good. I keep thinking I should save my samosa for desert and eat it with a cup of strong chai (um chai is tea in Hindi and starbux just stole and copyrighted a word from another language in case you didn't know - but you know how big corporate behemoths can get away with anything).

For the substantive part of lunch - I had small basmati rice with peas and tumeric, covered with a delicate chicken curry and a salsa of onions, tomatos and chillis (and lime). All accompanied by a naan. Mmmm mmmm good never tasted so good. Fearing I'd be asleep before too long - I only had 1.5 servings.

For dinner - hmmm what can I say - I caved in for the thali - several vegetarian dishes with rice, naan, rice pudding, and of course a samosa. The food was piping hot and I was in a happy place in minutes!

Strangely, I never feel like I need desert an Indian restaurant. Although Shalimar is missing the boat when it comes to Wines. They need stellar wines to match the food!!
