This Sunday the Eiteljorg Museum is kicking off what it hopes will be a tradition -- a Mother's Day brunch with food provided by executive chef Nathaniel Malone of Kahn's Katering.
While Malone acknowledges the holiday's importance, he also wants to draw people to the site. "Brunches are usually booked on Mother's Day; we just want to provide another option -- someplace new to celebrate, while encouraging exposure to this great museum." Advertisement
Date-stuffed chicken, roasted parmesan potato medley, tomato-basil penne and a chocolate tuxedo torte will be among the choices. One entrée stands out for Malone. "The lemon-caper salmon is baked with a fresh herb and white wine purée, then topped with a caper- cream sauce -- it's killer."
The brunch will be served Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with seatings at 11 a.m., 12:30 and 2 p.m., at the museum, 500 W. Washington St. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for children. Call for reservations: (317) 636-9378; or e-mail cklaubo@eiteljorg.com. Making May merrier
Plot a course along the Indy Wine Trail Saturday and Sunday for a special event that Jeff Durm -- wine trail president and owner of Buck Creek Winery -- said is the best value this month.
"A really cool addition to the trail this year is the Motor Speedway, who's allowed us to use their logo as part of the gift packs," he said.
A ticket gets you a glass of wine and free track-inspired food at each winery, plus a race-related gift at each site.
Once you've acquired seven stamps on your wine trail passport, you'll also receive 2008's commemorative wine glass.
Tickets are $15 in advance ($18 day of). To reserve tickets and browse the list of seven participating wineries, call (888) 846-6463 (VINO IND), or check out www.indywinetrail .com.
