There are lots of great DJ's in town, but I'd have to say DJ Topspeed, who has been a mentor to a whole lot of Naptown DJ's throughout the many years he's entertained our city.

As far as overall skill level and digging capabilities, I would have to give it to Top Speed as well. I saw him DJ the breakdancing competition as Scribble Jam in Cincinatti two years back. The vintage breakbeats he was pulling out were just amazing. Very honorable mentions would be Indiana Jones, DJ Rusty, Paul Bunyon, Charlie Tropics, Orealkid and Jnki.

DJ Victory! Haha...but for real:

Dj Topspeed is the Indy's resident DJ. If your coming up, you learn from watching this guy. He scratches better with his off hand than most do with their good hand. All around solid DJ.

While I'll probably be ostracized for this, because many of my friends are djs and amazing at that. I have to say Scott Metalic is the deal! He is versitile and skilled in all genres of music. As I like to call him he's 'the music snob's DJ' and I am a music snob! With that being said DJ Metrognome, Twinpeaks and Action Jackson should also be mentioned!

Scott Matelic IS the deal. I've been slacking on going to see him live, but his album 'Primitive Pessimist' is really, really good. In fact, it's one of my favorite hip-hop albums. It's now available on iTunes. He's also produced some great tracks for Sage Francis, Sole, and Adeem.

Quite awhile ago we did a couple of videos with Scott for INtake. You can check out the interview here and his production demonstration here. My apologies about the audio levels. It was one of the first videos I shot and edited.

Great to see DJ Metrognome getting props too. He's definitely come a long way since starting out in B-town. Great guy! Respect.

Also great, of course, to see Indy.com regular and super talented DJ Indiana Jones get the praise he deserves.

Gotta give MADD props to my man Scott Matellic (SCOTTTY!!!), and I cant omit DJ's Kenny Kixx, JF, Limelight, Indiana Jones (the worldwide #1 Party Motivator!!), Rusty, Reddy Rock (who is also Rhymefest's tour DJ and internationally critically acclaimed), Action Jackson (INCREDIBLE!), Top Speed (aka Yoda lol), and of course, MY DJ...

DA METROGNOME!!!!

Sorry. Shameless plugs. Y'all know how it goes lol.

But if you're not familiar with any of the above DJ's, myspace or google search them, ask about them, because they represent HOME. HARD. And anywhere they spin out of town, they blow minds.

Support your homegrown; Everyone else is doing it.
