Newly inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, John Mellencamp will release upcoming album "Life, Death, Love and Freedom" on the independent label closely associated with Starbucks coffee shops.

Hear Music will place the recording in Starbucks locations and conventional music stores July 15.

Produced by T-Bone Burnett, "Life, Death, Love and Freedom" will include "If I Die Sudden" and "A Ride Back Home" - two highlights from the Hoosier musician's recent live performances - as well as "Jena," a song inspired by teenagers who hung nooses in trees at their Louisiana high school in 2006.

Fans who purchase "Life, Death, Love and Freedom" will find both a DVD and CD in its packaging. The DVD will feature the album in a high-definition audio format developed by Burnett and his team of engineers.

Hear Music is a partnership between Starbucks and Concord Music Group.

Mellencamp joins Paul McCartney, James Taylor and Carly Simon as artists who have made recordings for the Hear Music label.

Seymour native Mellencamp has made 19 studio albums, primarily for major-label corporations Universal and Sony BMG.
