People hesitate to use the dreaded "R-word," but the fact is, our economy is hurting. With college graduations this month (and continual layoffs), many of you might be hustling to find a job, so why not drown your sorrows while trading business cards? Erin Albert, the mind behind Yuspie.com and the author of "Indianapolis: A Young Professional's Guide," recently weighed in on the best places in Indy to talk fast and drink slow.

Blu Martini

4705 E. 96th St., (317) 566-8650, www.blumartiniindy.com

Hours: 4:30.p.m. to 1.a.m. Monday through Thursday, 4:30.p.m. to 3.a.m. Friday, 5.p.m. to 3.a.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday.

Details: Full menu, smoking, television, MC/V/D/AX.

Whether you're looking for a date or an interview, bar owner Bill Pritt's got you covered. Albert says his "calendar usually has some pretty cool ideas on it for networking and social events." From 7 to 9.p.m. May 8, for example, the Indy Vinos meet, and anyone's welcome to sample unlimited wines for $15.

The Lobby Lounge

175 S. Main St., Zionsville, (317) 873-9177, www.brickstreetinn.com

Hours: 3 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Details: Colleen Fanning, owner of the brand-new bar inside Zionsville's Brick Street Inn, is carving out her niche as the host of various business networking organizations. "She has hosted an Alpha Chicks event there," Albert said, which sounds to us like a pantsuit version of ladies' night. AlphaRoosters, start lining up now!

Capital Grille

50 W. Washington St., (317) 423-8790, www.thecapitalgrille.com

Hours: 6:30.a.m. to 10:30.a.m. and 11:30.a.m. to 2:30.p.m. and 5 to 10:30.p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 6:30.a.m. to 10:30.a.m. and 11:30.a.m. to 2:30.p.m. and 5 to 11.p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Details: Full menu, no smoking allowed, MC/V/D/AX.

Several high-profile Hoosiers call the Conrad home, but the real action is in the bar. "A lot of lunch networking happens here, along with cocktail informal hobnobbing," Albert said. The National Association of Women Business Owners Trailblazers luncheon is on May.20.

Slippery Noodle Inn

372 S. Meridian St., (317) 631-6974, www.slipperynoodle.com

Hours: 11.a.m. to 3.a.m. Monday through Saturday, 11.a.m. to midnight Sunday.

Details: Full menu, smoking and nonsmoking available, dancing, live music, television, MC/V/D/AX.

Eli Lilly and Co. employees used to flock to this venerated Downtown drinkin' depot, Albert said. We're not sure if that is true anymore, but the bar is spittin' distance from a great many offices, so bring your dancin' shoes and your resume the next time you hit South Meridian Street.

Moe & Johnny's

5380 N. College Ave., (317) 255-6376, www.moeandjohnnys.com

Hours: 11.a.m. to 3.a.m. Monday through Saturday, 11.a.m. to 12:30.a.m. Sunday.

Details: Full menu, smoking and nonsmoking available, arcade, billiards, jukebox, television, MC/V/D/AX.

Moe & Johnny's is Butler University's bar of choice, and according to Albert, Butler alums are "movers and shakers locally." So move and shake your way to 54th Street and College Avenue, where one of the Bulldogs might throw you a bone.
