"The band that started a sonic sound revolution returns:
MY BLOODY VALENTINE
Legendary Quartet to perform at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom in their only Midwest appearance!
My Bloody Valentine, without question one of the most visionary and important artist in the modern pop pantheon, have officially reformed and will perform their first Chicago show in 16 years on Saturday, September 27th at the Aragon Ballroom! The highly anticipated reunion tour features all four original members - Kevin Shields, Colm O'Ciosoig, Bilinda Butcher & Deb Googe. This is one of only five North American dates.
My Bloody Valentine formed in Dublin in 1984, relocated to and ended up being based out of the then musical hotspot London. They received overwhelming critical praise in the early 90's for releasing a string of explosive albums, including the hugely influential Isn't Anything and Loveless. Since their release these records have continued to resonate and serve as touchstones for the generations of bands that followed. My Bloody Valentine's sonic revolution brought together distorted guitars, spaced echo and reverb shadings, and fierce melodies, combining them into songs that many felt pointed a way to the potential future of pop itself. Some would go so far as to say their musical explorations have not been surpassed since, making their return all the more welcome amongst pop aficionados throughout the globe.
Showtime is 8:00pm. Tickets are $40.00 and go on sale this Saturday, May 10th at 11:00am through Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or charge by phone (312) 559-1212."
Took long enough! I'm sure it'll sell out at the drop of a hat. An old boyfriend of mine's old girlfriend saw them in England, and said it was the loudest concert ever.
I do think that "When You Sleep" is one of the greatest songs ever.
