If you stuck around after the credits on "Iron Man" you saw that there are strong hints of moving toward an "Avengers" movie. Yahoo! Finance is reporting on release dates for key films leading up to that monumental celluloid collection comic book characters.
"Iron Man 2" is slated to hit theaters April 30, 2010, followed closely by "Thor" on June 4 of the same year. "The First Avenger: Captain America" (which is the current working title and may be changed to, you know, just "Captain America") hits theaters May 6, 2011, and "The Avengers" coming in July of the same year.
So whomever is cast as Cap will be wearing red, white and blue and toting that shield around for most of 2010.
And while there's no firm date yet, there is a writer and director "engaged" for "Ant Man," another Avenger.
Yah, Marvel has been saying for a year or so now that if Iron Man and the Hulk do well, the Avengers is getting the green light. The snuck Avengers references into Iron Man and Hulk, and there's the rumor that Iron Man makes a cameo in Hulk as well.
