Indianapolis Opera will close its 2007-08 season with "The Tales of Hoffmann," Jacques Offenbach's opera inspired by stories of poet E.T.A Hoffmann.

The comic fantasy, in which Hoffmann recalls the three supposed loves of his life, will star tenor Gran Wilson. Soprano Rachele Gilmore will sing the role of the doll Olympia, with mezzo Jane Dutton as Giulietta the courtesan and Laura Pedersen, as Antonia, the consumptive singer.

"The Tales of Hoffmann" will be sung in French, with English subtitles. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Friday, May 2 and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at Clowes Hall, 4600 Sunset Ave.

Tickets ($25-$110 for adults, $24-$104 for students and seniors) are available from the Clowes box office or Ticketmaster locations. Call (317) 239-1000 or go to www.indyopera.org.
