Brown County yellows

I visited my folks in Brown County and found some shrooms. These three were double dipped in egg and seasoned flour and fried in butter. I made a sandwich with focaccia bread. It rocked.

Sounds great. I'm hoping to go morel hunting this coming weekend with the editor of a new mushroom journal called Fungi (it debuts this week). I'm hopeful he can spot some. Because they're like $40 a pound at the market!

Wow! I'm jealous. I went out over the weekend and NO luck/ I had a spot up at Geist years ago before it got all built up but I can't (obviously) go there now.

There's a morel festival at Brown County State Park (free with park admission) on Saturday, May 3, with guided hunts and various activities as well as a morel sale, in case you don't have any luck finding your own. Here's a link to the website: www.morelmushroomfestival.com Or call the nature center at (812) 988-5240.
