Lots of things to consider. Range of style, total volume of work, timelessness.

I didn't want to bias the answers, but that was the consensus among my friends when we sat around drinking and pondering the question many years ago.

That's tough! I think it would have to be Talking Heads for me. I'm more of the standing around and dancing school of best-evers, rather than the sitting around and drinking. Perhaps that's why TH is for me and not LZ.

I'd have to go with Elvis....no matter what mood I am in, he has a song to fit it!

tres impossible.

Elvis Costello. I think he's the best writer of lyrics ever to put pen to paper, and he's no slouch when it comes the music, either. He shifts styles with every album, so there's always a variety to the sound. And his voice is pretty friggin nifty, too.

Sam Cooke...smoothest voice ever made.

Loverboy....no wait, OK, The Beatles. Yeah, definitely the Beatles over Loverboy.

I will probably be the only one to say this but it would have to be Duran Duran.

These questions vex me. I spoze it would be Dylan. Thank the music gods for Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat and Tangled Up in Blue...

Counting Crows for me. They never play there songs the same way as they sound on the CD, so it doesn't get old.

I'm torn between Prince and Stevie Wonder... If I had to choose ...I wouldn't be able to!
